Meeting the Challenges of Future Energy Supply Today.

Solar Millennium pursues a quality strategy in the market and is therefore continually developing existing and new technologies further. In particular, Solar Millennium continues to invest in the further development of parabolic trough technology, with the following objectives:

• Cost reduction and greater efficiency (e.g. through direct steam generation in the absorber pipes)
• Expansion of the location possibilities (e.g. reduction of the amount of water required by using dry cooling systems)
• Electricity generation around the clock (e.g. through the hybrid operation of power plants with solar energy and biogas)
• Expansion of uses (e.g. by using power plants as desalination plants or for industrial heat processes)

Other technologies within the field of renewable energy are closely monitored at Solar Millennium, in particular where solar thermal power plants are concerned. Furthermore, the technology subsidiary Smagsol GmbH is also pursuing the goal of developing solar chimney power plants through to market readiness.
