Technology & Construction.
The Technology and Power Plant Construction segment is comprised of engineering services, i.e. the design of the entire power plant or parts thereof, as well as project management, construction and construction supervision of the plants and power plant operation. Further development of parabolic trough technology as well as research and development activities in the field of solar towers and other solar technologies are also part of this business segment.
Together with its subsidiaries, the Solar Millennium Group is able to offer the full package of services, including engineering and turn-key power plant construction. The two main components of a solar-thermal power plant are the solar field, i.e. the “regenerative” part, and the power plant block, the “conventional” part. The entire plant is built by a temporary consortium of specialized companies under the management of a general contractor.
Engineers from the Solar Millennium Group’s Technology and Construction segments develop the collector design, calculate the required size of the solar field and align the collectors in the field. They also render engineering services for the heat transfer system, energy storage and the power block with its ancillary systems (Engineering). During the construction period, the engineers monitor the quality of the high-precision optical collectors. A subsidiary supplies the control of the solar field, which is a key component for the operation of the entire plant, and is in charge of component procurement (Procurement). Being the technology provider, the Solar Millennium Group is also involved in the construction phase and operation of the power plant. The Group also acts as general contractor for the construction of solar fields or entire solar-thermal power plants (Construction). In the scope of its research and development projects, the Solar Millennium Group constantly strives to advance parabolic trough technology in order to expand its technological position and lower the cost of solar-thermal power plants.
In addition, the Group offers services and consultancy for the planning, construction and operation of solar-thermal power plants and conducts feasibility studies for the analysis of technological variations or alternatives. The Group has already been awarded licensing and engineering orders for third-party power plant projects.
